Neck lump: when should you see an ENT specialist?
A guide to persistent neck swellings, enlarged lymph nodes, and which signs need imaging or biopsy planning.
A neck lump that persists for more than a few weeks, increases in size, feels hard, or is associated with throat symptoms should be evaluated rather than simply observed.
Neck swellings may arise from lymph nodes, thyroid lesions, salivary pathology, congenital cysts, infection, or metastatic disease, and they often need imaging or aspiration.
ENT review helps determine whether the lump is inflammatory, structural, or potentially serious and guides the next diagnostic step.
